I have managed to place it into a duvet for a comforter and then a 400 count sheet on top of that and that seems to keep the feathers from stabbing me or my wife on the way out. I spent a lot of money on this featherbed, so I am going to make it work. It should have come with a sturdier cover and it would have been great. Especially for a featherbed that cannot be cleaned, it would have been nice to have it in a slip of some sort. I held back on giving this review until I had used it for quite sometime. I have always enjoyed real down, but being impaled by this fb, in the beginning, really made it a chore. I would NOT recommend this product. In all honesty, there are better, frugal choices that would do the same job or better.

A: Hi Ann- With a featherbed you can use it both ways. If you put it under the sheet it will help keep it in place better but you do not have to use it that way . If you are going to put it on top of the sheet would would recommend to put the featherbed in a cover. Thank you.
